Banijay Brands Appoints Compact Media for AVSR Collections,
and Broadcast Tracking via MRIT

Compact Media, the UK-based global rights collection agency, has signed a long-term secondary-rights management deal with Banijay Brands, the commercial arm for content powerhouse Banijay, which has over 120 production companies across 22 territories and a multi-genre catalogue containing over more than 146,000 hours of programming. The deal was brokered by Mark Rowland, MD of Compact Media and, Banijay Brands’ Group Director of Music & Secondary Rights, Antonia Gilham.

Under the long-term contract, Compact Media will manage the collection of Banijay’s international revenues through secondary television rights exploitation, including retransmission, educational off-air recording levy and private-copy levies.

Mark Rowland said: “Banijay is quite simply an industry giant, whose deep and growing catalogue is not only a creative gold mine, but a valuable seam of secondary-rights revenues. “Our bespoke broadcast tracking system (MRIT), launched in April 2022, helps us track daily transmissions to manage and collect all the revenues that are due to them. The system is also licensed to clients and is part of the long-term deal structure agreed with Banijay”
